Maj.Gen.Jayasundera granted bail

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday (4) ordered retired Major General Bandara Jayasundera to be released on cash bail of Rs 10,000 and on two personal bails of Rs 500,000. Jayasundera who was present before PRECIFAC is alleged to have provided false evidence to PRECIFAC who are investigating corruption and large scale frauds allegedly having taken place at Rakna Lanka Arakshaka Seva Private Limited.


  

Jayasundera was summoned before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption, and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges following a complaint lodged with the Cinnamon Gardens Police on 26 November, 2015 by the Chief Inspector of the Police unit of PRECIFAC Ranjith Rajapaksa that the former had provided false evidence before it. The Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered the Cinnamon Gardens Police to forward a report regarding the progress of the said case when it is called again on 19 May, 2016.
