The Education Ministry today declared that the school holiday for the first phase of the first term for government and government-approved private Sinhala and Tamil schools will conclude tomorrow.

The United Postal Trade Unions Front (UPTUF) is set to launch a 24-hour trade union action from tonight due to the failure to fill more than 6,000 existing vacancies in the postal service. Cabinet approval was granted for the revision of the Penal Code to strengthen legal provisions to prohibit sexual harassment. Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the introduction of amendments to the Penal Code criminalizing all forms of sexual harassments and sexual assaults, including sexual harassment and sexual assault in public places.
