A 38-year-old man was arrested for circulating an image of a fake Rs. 5,000 note, featuring a picture of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on social media. The suspect was arrested in Piliyandala by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The suspect, a resident of Athurugiriya is to be produced before court.

SC dismisses petition challenging General Elections date

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition challenging the decision to hold the General Elections on November 14. A three-member bench of judges comprising Justices Preethi Padman Surasena, Shiran Gunaratne and Priyantha Fernando issued the order after an extended review of the presented facts. The court ruled to dismiss the petition without proceeding to a formal hearing.

Two students killed, 40 injured in bus accident
